Just in case anyone’s been wondering what happened to this blog, let’s just say I’ve been busy with my newest source of inspiration:

We’re on vacation, and although I had every intention of posting regularly, it turns out it’s just too hot in my parents’ computer room to get anything more done than checking email. Ah well, that’s what vacations are for, right?

Some of you have been quite curious – even alarmed – about my break from blogging. But never fear, we’re all OK. In fact, it’s not so much any one thing that’s been overwhelming; it’s really been the convergence of so many little things that’s kept the whole household in a kind of a frenzy. Two major situations have dominated our lives, however:
- Marie hasn’t been sleeping. She’s been going to bed way too late and waking up way too early. It’s been driving us all crazy, and Marie’s mood hasn’t exactly benefited from sleep deprivation.
- I’m pregnant! Three months along, in fact, so that’s about how long I’ve been holding out on y’all. So far, it’s been a much more difficult pregnancy than my first, and it has really been all I could do keep up with the bare minimum of childcare, laundry and eating whatever seems least nauseating.
Fortunately, Marie is slowly starting to sleep better (touch wood), and I’m starting to feel more human. That means you can expect to start seeing a bit more content on this here blog thingy. To start with, I’m going to publish the pregnancy entries I’ve been writing these past weeks – now that I’m emerging out of the uncertainty that is the first trimester, I feel like I can share them with you. You’ll read about breastfeeding during pregnancy, weaning, hormone disorders and good ol’ overall pregnancy misery.
Oh, and Babe the Second is due in early/mid December. The perfect excuse not to visit any relatives for Christmas!

I thought I should explain my long absence before even more time passes. Without going into too much detail, let’s just say I’ve been overwhelmed by life for a few weeks. So spring cleaning has to wait, along with many other projects that are swimming around in my head but that would require far more mental and physical energy than I have right now. This website is very important to me, but my family and my health are more important, and right now I need to focus on the homefront. I’m not sure when I’ll get back to writing regularly, but it goes without saying that I hope it’s sooner rather than later.
